in 2002, 2 beautiful new squash courts were added onto the Bulkley Valley Regional Pool in Smithers, BC. For the many squash enthusiasts in the Bulkley Valley, it was a chance to dust off their old gear and get back out on the courts again, while for others it was a chance to try a new sport.

 

The project was made possible through the generosity of hundreds of businesses and individuals throughout the community, and the vision and countless numbers of volunteer hours spent fundraising and building the addition.  

 

The Smithers Squash Club was founded shortly after the courts opened. The club hosts three tournaments each year. Traditionally the first tourney has been held in mid-October, the second in mid-January, and the third in early April.

 

Players from the club also travel to tournaments all over BC, with a particular fondness for tourneys in Prince Rupert, with whose club a budding rivalry and great social relationship has developed.

 

We hope you’ll get out and play some squash! It’s a great game!
